The scienceWhat is hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
The air we breathe contains roughly 21% oxygen. Inside a hyperbaric chamber you breathe 100% pure oxygen at 2.0 atmospheres absolute (ATA) — twice normal atmospheric pressure.
That extra pressure forces oxygen to dissolve directly into the blood plasma, not only into red blood cells — so oxygen can reach tissues that normal circulation cannot: areas with reduced blood flow, damaged tissue and regions of chronic inflammation.
